If You Don’t Ask, You’ll Never Know

Don’t be shy …ask for a little more.

When checking into a hotel, politely ask the registration attendant if a complimentary upgrade would be available. Comp’d upgrades may not be granted often, but every once in a while you just might be surprised, and that certainly can make your stay a little more enjoyable. Maybe the hotel’s occupancy is low that day, or maybe the registration attendant is having a great morning & feeling generous. If you don’t ask, you’ll never know.

If you enjoy a nice cabernet like I do, and the wine list at the restaurant looks unfamiliar, ask to sample the wine before ordering. Most establishments are happy to pour you a taste before you purchase the full glass.

When flying, don’t forget to ask the ticket agent if an emergency exit row seat is available when checking in. If you’re lucky, you can get you some extra leg room for a more comfortable flight. Note: some airlines have recently started charging a fee for exit row seating, so check with the airline.

When shopping, ask the store clerk if they are running any specials or discounts that week. Some stores like Jo-Ann’s & Michael’s publish weekly circulars that contain coupons saving you 40% to 50% off of one regular priced item.

Taking a little time to ask for a little extra can save you money and make your experience more enjoyable, so don’t be afraid to ask!
